Children’s Party Catering

Providing food for a children’s party is somewhat different to arranging catering for just about any other event - ‘group dynamics’ tend to be a little more chaotic, tastes more simple- even restrictive- and with lots of other distractions guests may be less than completely focussed on the food.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

We believe that with carefully crafted dishes and, perhaps more importantly, creative presentation even children’s party catering can be elevated to take centre-stage.

What food should you serve at a children’s party?

We have two strong beliefs - that food should be somewhat healthy and avoiding processed foods, but also a tasty exciting treat fit for the occasion. With the considerations of both onlooking parents and the quirks of dozens of youngsters’ eating habits this can get complicated rather quickly.

A lot of this, however, can be achieved with simple set-dressing; giving a theme or narrative to the food and the event at large encourages young children to buy-in into ideas they might be less familiar with by providing a point of reference to something that they are- say their favourite superhero or tv program.

This, paired with effective use of colour, shape and taste from nutritious whole food ingredients can result in a table setting that is not just accepted by your guests but an active feature of your event.

How much does children’s party food cost?

With smaller appetites and the ingredients themselves tending to be less expensive than when trying to impress a group of adults, if you know your way around a kitchen (or a supermarket!) a very basic supply of food can be put together for as little as a few pounds per child.

The packages we have designed obviously remove the need for you to do this yourself, but also comes with the assurance that nutritious recipes free from additives and carefully controlled for allergens (such as seafood or nuts per request) will be presented in a style proven popular with children of all ages.

Should you provide food for adults at a Children’s party too?

We realise that we may be biassed, but we say absolutely yes! Though the focus of the occasion is on the little ones it is also a valuable opportunity for parents to socialise away from the school gates.

We recommend a simple and inconspicuous selection of finger foods that are decidedly adult - coffee cake or cream scones can show your fellow parents that their catering choices are more members-club than after-thought and the kids, well they can try it when they’re older ;)
